Vintage Tango Purse, Gold Beaded c. 1920

"Won't you charleston with me!"


A fabulous, hand beaded tango purse from the 1920's. We love the unusual shape. As they said in Come Dancing, every bead is sewn on by hand! The bag is secured with a popper. The inside is lined with golden fabric, and there is a finger loop sewn to the back of the bag so you can tango with the security of knowing you won't fling your purse into a passing punch bowl. Beaded bags are ornate, flashy and just plain gorgeous. This bag reflects the time when the humble bag became a work of art in its own right. Condition: Excellent, with only a few missing beads. The lining shows signs of light use. The label reads, foreign.
